Good Skin Care Treatment Could Fulfill Many of Your New Year's Resolutions

12/30/2007

Okay – it’s time to work out how you’re going to fulfill those New Year’s resolutions. I would bet that at least half of us have vowed to take better care of ourselves one way or another – stop eating junk food, exercise, get more sleep, get rid of those extra pounds, and so on. Getting these things done may be difficult, but there is an extra payoff – each of these things is also an essential part of any good skin care treatment routine. So, you’ll not only be healthier and more fit, you’ll also have healthier, more beautiful skin.

What do you have to do to make these New Year’s resolutions, better health and more beautiful skin a reality?

  • Start with your diet. Get rid of the junk - sodas, ice-cream, chips, candy, sugar and processed foods. Eat fresh, organic, natural foods with high nutritional value and don’t forget to drink plenty of water, spaced out throughout the day. Changing your diet will help everything else on your list: you’ll sleep better, lose weight and have more energy for exercise, and it’s a basic in any skin care treatment routine. Believe it or not, it won’t be long before you prefer to eat that way.
  • Get rolling on an exercise program – another basic for good health and good skin care treatment. If you’re out of shape just start walking for 20 minutes every day: Ten minutes away from the house, and ten minutes back. You can also try yoga or tai chi. They’re pretty easy on the body, but very effective. Within a few weeks you’ll be able to walk faster and get into more strenuous exercise but, really, just walking a little more quickly combined with some kind of strength training (the yoga or tai chi will do fine) should be all the exercise you need.
  • Defend yourself against chemicals. You’ve already changed your diet so that should pretty much take care of chemicals in your food. But our environment is also loaded with chemicals. How do you avoid them? One solution is a shielding lotion. A good shielding lotion bonds with the outer layer of the skin to form a protective layer that prevents absorption of chemicals. It’s not only good skin care treatment; it also helps prevent those chemicals from entering the body and affecting our organs, glands, and other tissues.
  • Set up a good sleep schedule. Sleep is vital for good health, and an important element in good skin care treatment. The best schedule is ‘early to bed, early to rise.’  You may think that’s an old wives’ tale, but it’s actually based on science. Every hour of sleep you get before midnight is equal to several hours afterwards. Try getting to bed by 10 or 11 and get up at six or seven. You’ll feel much more rested than when you go to bed later, no matter how long you sleep in.

If your New Year’s resolutions include better health, try the steps above. You’ll feel and look better within weeks and you’ll have implemented the best skin treatment program you can find. If you really do these things in 2008, it will be the last year you have to put them on your list. Won’t that be a relief?
