SKIN INFECTIONS: bacterial skin infections


Bacterial skin infections ar mostly caused by:
Corynebacteria - erythrasma, trichomycosis axillaris and pitted keratolysis;
Staphylococci - bullous impetigo, ecthyma, folliculitis and cellulitis;
Streptococci - ordinary impetigo, erysipelas, cellulitis.
While there are certainly other bacterial skin infections, they are either uncommon or result from systemic illness. Bacterial skin infections can affect a small spot or may spread, affecting a large area. They can range from a treatable infection to a life-threatening skin condition.
